About MakerUK
Last updated: 13 August 2026
MakerUK (makeruk.co.uk) is an independent UK making publication. We exist for one reason: to help home makers, DIYers and hobbyists make confident decisions - whether that is which making product to buy or how to approach a making problem.
What we publish
- Product comparisons - roundups and buying guides covering power tools, hand tools, 3D printers, workshop equipment and project supplies
- Practical guides - step-by-step help for everyday making challenges
- Explanations - plain-English breakdowns of tools, making, DIY and home projects topics
How we work
Our editorial process is simple and honest:
- Topics are chosen because people are actually searching for them - not because a supplier paid us
- Research comes from product documentation, purchaser feedback, independent reviews and published sources
- Every article is written and edited by our editorial team, with care about accuracy
- Recommendations are made on merit, and we update content when products or prices change
We are transparent that we are a small editorial team producing a high volume of practical content. We do not pretend to be a giant institution, and we do not invent qualifications. What we offer is honest, useful, well-researched guidance.
How we make money
MakerUK is reader-supported. Some links in our articles are affiliate links - if you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This funding model keeps our content free and independent. It never determines what we recommend. See our Affiliate Disclosure How We Review for full details.
Our editorial standards
- No paid placements, no sponsored reviews, no "advertorial" disguised as advice
- No fabricated testing claims, quotes or credentials
- No exaggerated or misleading claims - if something is a trade-off, we say so
- Errors get corrected promptly and visibly
